Who am I?
My name is Somayeh Torkaman. I am ESR number 10 and originally from Iran. I received the bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering at Isfahan University of Technology (IUT) and master’s degree in Industrial Engineering at Amir Kabir University of Technology (AUT). I worked on “production planning in the closed-loop supply chain” as the M.Sc. thesis, because of economic and environmental benefits of remanufacturing. I published a paper in “Computers & Industrial Engineering” journal, a paper in “Applied Soft Computing” journal and a paper in “Journal of Industrial Engineering Research in Production Systems” and presented a paper in 11th International Conference of Industrial Engineering in Iran, which are extracted from my M.Sc thesis. I was the Teaching Assistant for several courses such as Probability theory, supply chain planning, plant layout, stochastic programming, inventory control and project control and the teacher of computer laboratory. I also have been the member of Iran’s National Elite Foundation for four consecutive years from 2014 to 2018.
I worked as an ERP expert in manufacturing and outbound logistics modules for three months in Avec Company and as a logistics expert in Saipa Corporation for four years. I also was the head of a group consists of four M.Sc. students of the Sharif University of Technology whose theses were related to location routing in Saipa Corp., leading them in data gathering, modeling and developing solution methods.
I passed some advanced courses such as pricing and revenue management, stochastic processes, stochastic programming and stochastic dynamic programming which made me interested more than ever in research. After learning the attractive concepts of revenue management (RM), I decided to get deeper into these concepts and I am glad that the topic of my current research is related to this field. Observing the practical use of the concepts I had learned and obtain experience and knowledge about the complicated real problems which exist in the industry is the outstanding feautre of PERFORM program for me.
Collaboration with industry is one of the main goals of the PERFORM training network. In order to achieve this goal, Albina Galiullina, and Somayeh Torkaman, Ph.D. students at the Eindhoven…
